Originally The Name Of The Fort Was Earlier Sudarshangarh But Later It Came To Be Known As Nahargarh Fort, Which Means "Lion's Abode". Nahargarh Fort Was Built In 1734 By Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, The Founder Of Jaipur. For The Protection Of This Mountain And The Walls Are Built, It Is Said That This Fort Used To Be The Capital Of Amer Earlier. At The Time Of The Indian Rebellion Of 1847, The Europeans Of This Region, Including The Wives Of The British, All Were Sent By King Sawai Ram Singh Of Jaipur To Nahargarh Fort For Their Protection.

The Most Attractive Part Of The Nahargarh Fort Is The Madhavendra Bhavan, Which Was Built For The Royal Women. The Rooms Of The Palace Have Also Been Connected By Corridors. The Rooms Of The Women In The Palace Have Been Made So That The Maharaja Can Go To Any Queen's Room Without Knowing The Other Queens. The Fort Is Named After Nahar Singh Bhomiya. But Who Is This Person After Whom This Fort Was Named? Some People Believe That He Was A Rathod Prince And The Place Where King Sawai Jai Singh Built This Fort Was That Of Nahar Singh Bhomiya. Jai Singh Also Got A Temple Named After Him Inside The Fort For The Peace Of His Soul. And Since Then He Also Named The Fort After Him - Nahargarh Fort.
